"I have seen the sea when it is stormy and wild; when it is quiet and serene; when it is dark and moody. And in all it's moods, I see myself."

~ Makaha Beach~

The beginning of another day in paradise on the island of Oahu.

"Oahu is known as "The Gathering Place."
~Makaha Beach~

Another nice day on the Island of Oahu.
This is the Gig Harbor boat marina with Mount Rainier as a backdrop. The morning I shot this, December 9th 2009, it broke an all-time weather record, for being the coldest day in the Greater Puget Sound area.

I couldn't adjust my camera with gloves on, so when I returned to my truck my fingers felt like they were going to break off like an icicles, and shatter on the ground. I'm usually excited about capturing scenes like this, but It was miserable, until I arrived home to a hot cup of coffee.
~Wet and Wild~

The surf was really raging on Makaha's beach in Oahu. Standing on the shore with my long zoom was much safer than swimming.

Makaha Beach is famous worldwide for its surfing waves. During the winter surf season waves up to 25 feet high break off Makaha Point, providing some of the most challenging big waves in Hawaii.
Gig Harbor Washington

Taken on a very cold December morning. This old fishing boat fits the early morning scene.
~Sudden Impact~

Racing waves roaring through a 200 foot sea tunnel on the Oregon Coast crash into large boulders sending salty spray in all directions.
~Tongue Point~

Tongue Point is noted as being the eastern-most located habitat example of open rock coast intertidal habitat in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Everyone returned to their campsites as soon as the sun dissapeared. I waited until the day's light extinguished and the night grew dark and silent save for the gentle sound of the surf lapping against the rock formations.
Looking out across the Straight of Juan D Fuca, from Salt Creek, as the sun slowly sinks below the horizon. I've stood against this railing above the bluff looking out towards Canada since I was a kid. I can almost hear my Mother's voice, telling me to be careful.

Mount Baker can be seen peeeking in the distance in the top right corner.
